Bloodskal definitely punches above its weight when it comes to weapons while it may fall behind in damage in later game the weapon also has a amazing amount of stagger

Bloodskal Blade is hands down my favorite weapon in Skyrim, the lore behind the weapon, the design and the attributes/properties of the Blade are top notch to me. I would liked to have had a one handed variant to the Blade as I generally play more one handed/dual wield builds, it could be easily integrated I think to where A you have the option of a choice when finding the Blade or B the weapon type is based on your highest weapon skill and just tweak the lore a little to where the Blade is known for taking the shape that best suits the wielder when found, for example maybe you’re a heavy hitting battle axe wielder that has made his/her way deep into the cave where the Blade is found, you come up to a pedestal in which the blade resides in its original GreatSword form and as you place your hands around the hilt and pull it out it begins changing its shape to a masterfully forged battle axe that has its red runes swirling through the blackened blades to appear as if stained with the blood of all the souls the Blade as taken over the eons of its existence

100% agreed. Still waiting for a better combat mod then sky or elden beast that complements this weapon.

Use become etheal shout and you’ll be able to us the wave still, you will drain no stamina, and you won’t be hurt for a short period

My favorite weapon in skyrim

As a certainly unique weapon. It’s so underpowered that by the time you find it. You would already have some of the best weapons in the game. The weapon literally only serves as a key to one door, and that’s it. It’s a shame Bethesda couldn’t do more with it, considering it is the only one of its kind that offers a unique playstyle. The wave attacks are also so weak. The tradeoff with your stamina isn’t worth the trouble unless you have tons of stamina potions laying around.

The bloodskal blade is even better if you use it when using the become ethereal shout because it will only cancel the shout if you hit the target with a melee attack and when In ethereal mode you can’t get hit so your basically invincible

By the time you’re leveled up enough to go to solstheim without any leveled loot reductions 30 damage isn’t shit so the ranged attack basically only kills skeletons which were already trivial so it only does what other stuff already does better

The biggest pro to the blade is that it doesn’t need recharging.
This makes it one of my favourite weapons, as most charged weapons drain to quickly and a strongly enchanted weapon should be combined with the black star to even stay functional.

It also happens to be one of the very few weapons in game that does not require soul gems to refill its enchantment. It’s the unlimitedness of the spicy fruit punch for me

Is it just me or does damage values in Skyrim seem off balance? 50 damage seems like it should be a lot, but then I blast a bandit and he’s still alive, a giant and he gets mad and a dragon just moans. My issue is if I shoot an arrow through your skull, you don’t get anymore birthdays. If I slice your neck, no more Christmases. If I crack your head with a mace, your name is now Glen. If I blast you with a stream of fire, your family will be attending your funeral. See, this doesn’t add up. Whose shrugging off an axe to the face? Hell, I needed surgery when it happened to me.
(It’s not nearly as interesting as it sounds. We were fucking around and he hit me in the face with my axe then left 5 minutes later when I just stood there bleeding into my sink. He’s the reason I carry around pliers. He owes me a tooth)

There’s a mod that allows you to apply this effect on any melee weapon and it even let’s you pick colors and set damage points

Reminder that fromsoft made the moonlight greatsword before the bloodskal blade, then proceeded to make 4 games that have the moonlight greatsword before Skyrim got a sequel

Kinda sucks that its enchantment stays fixed at 30 damage no matter what though. Means it’s not ideal for legendary difficulty playthroughs. It is still a fun weapon to use on adept difficulty though.

Didn’t even mention that the wave of spicy fruit punch is piercing so one can feed them all!

My favorite weapon in the game. My very first character I ever made was a two-handed warrior wearing heavy armor. Once I came across the Bloodskal blade, Wuuthrad had to take a backseat.

The problem here with Skyrim is that most of the unique weapons are pretty useless when playing in Legendary. There’s only a few that manage to hold their own, like Molag’s Bal mace.

Being a stealth archer, I see people using swords in Skyrim the same as you see people cutting food with sharp stones instead of kitchen knives. Like… Why? Is that a challenge you’re taking? Is it for roleplay? You lost a bet with friend and that’s your punishment?

i belive they use the turn undead skill’s wave, turned it red, and called it a day. very smart by the devs tbh.

I believe it also crits with the sword skill on the one handed skill tree. It’s actually your best choice for a two handed weapon build.

You are playing on novice. that sword is completely useless on legendary. there is no way that swords ability on any other difficulty than Novice. You are better off killing enemies with telekinesis than that’s swords ability.

I also use it to move corpses (i pile all the guards of markath on the high ground and then fuus roh daa! It’s raining men 😂)

I use this as a conjure mage with a similar armor set. I use the waterwalking boots and the mask of w/e vile and it comes together nicely for my vanilla skyrim vampire lord

this is honestly my number one favorite weapon in the game. I JUST wish the energy wave scaled differently. Like the Damage of the energy wave could scale depending on your level in the two-hand skill tree or something. 30 damage is literally tickling my enemy at really high levels 😭😭

Oh and in case anyone wants a funny build, the waves deal damage even when you are ethereal (from the become ethereal shout). So you can just power attack while ethereal, and as long as you don’t actually hit them in melee, you’re immune to damage. Do this with the infinite shouts necklace stacking and one veggie soup for maximum effect!

I love this blade but I hate how low tier it is in late game. I usually will get a mod to buff it slightly putting it higher than silver but not making it overpowered. Usually the damage increase is like 5-15 extra points for both the energy blast and the swing.

My only problem with this weapon is that it will only ever deal 30 damage unless you do something to weaken the enemy. 30 flat damage, no buffs, no enchantments or perks. Still fun and useful, I just wish the beam was stronger as that’s what you are looking for with it.

I don’t see how a vampire could have shriveled organs, considering they’re full of blood. More likely, they’d have the opposite problem.

Ima wager the name is intentionally similar to the phrase Blood Scar.
Its ability is just like Wind Scar. Which is the main char swords special move in Inuyasha. He says Wind Scar, and a damage blast of wind in the same shape here cuts through the air in a white color.

So seeing red I was thinking Blood Scar! So seeing Bloodskal makes me wonder if its a nod in that direction from the creators.

Dark Souls and now Elden Ring have been doing this better for so many years. It’s insanely boring to watch anything Elder Scrolls now. Nostalgia? Of course. But they can’t re-release Skyrim for the 26th time and expect to stay relevant for much longer.

Can’t wait for Skyrim to be rereleased over the next 20 years again.

I had a fun glitch where the Bloodskal Blade’s effect never worked. No matter what I did, even disenchanting the damn thing with console commands and adding it back on never did anything. Now I know what you’re thinking; that sounds bad, right?

Well it was. That is, until I used my Dragonbone Greatsword later with a full heavy swing. The energy *came out*; like I was using the Bloodskal Blade. I upgraded my weapon a couple of times afterwards and with some testing found that every single two-handed weapon BUT the Bloodskal Blade that wasn’t already enchanted would produce this effect. It was honestly super freaking badass.

I called it the ‘Bloodskal Mark’ and it seemed exclusive only to that character. Was super fun when I used it. God bless Bethesda’s glitches.

It can also help you beat the college of winterhold quest line without using any magic.

So it’s like the Moonlight greatsword from any dark souls game or soulsborne game (besides Sekiro)

Got a mod, I think it’s Phenderix Magic Evolved, that turns the Bloodskal Blade effect into a fire spell. It’s very fun to use in conjunction with Slow Time since it’s a slower projectile than most so you can just stack fire slashes to send a person into orbit by stacking knockback.

Stacking knockback in Slow Time is fucking busted.

Now, I want a bound bloodskal spell that still shoots the spicy waves

Also It doesn’t need to be recharged with soul gems, very good weapon.
